Arrival & Fun Run

The first couple of days are spent in Kathmandu preparing for the trek and race, having briefings and meeting group leaders and doctors. We also have an optional 10Km fun run for those who want to take part. Please click on a photo to see a larger image

The London flight arrives at Kathmandu having flown with Qatar Airways.The Hotel Shanker, our base in Kathmandu. The hotel is a former Rana palace near the tourist district of Thamel.A welcome banner outside the Hotel Shanker.A group meal in the Shanker.
Diana Penny Sherpani - organiser of the Everest Marathon.On the first morning a meeting for the whole group is arranged at which equipment and clothing is issued.Pre-event briefings take place before leaving for the trek.Weighing kit bags. All competitors are limited to 12Kg on the flight out to Lukla.
Before the race we do a fun-run in Nagarjun Forest Reserve. Nagarjun is on the outskirts of Kathmandu and has wonderful views over the city and out to the Himalaya.The group assemble on top of Nagarjun.Taking in the view from the viewing tower at Nagarjun.Fancy dress is the order of the day ...
