Application

When this web site is updated in October 2008 you will be able to print off and application form and send it to Bufo Ventures Ltd by post. There will also be an online application form which can be returned by e-mail. On the application form we ask for recent experience of mountain running and endurance events as evidence that you will be able to complete the marathon distance at high altitude on rough trails. Races/events planned should also be included.

Applications will  be accepted from 1 November 2008 to 30 April 2009.

Number of places

Because of the nature of the trail/course and trekking logistics, the number of places for non-Nepalese runners is limited to 75. We hope there will be about 10 Nepalese runners. We also require 10/12 non-runners and allow one companion per runner. These non-runners must be fit enough to complete the trek and prepared to help during the race as marshals or assisting medical staff.

English language

The race is conducted in ENGLISH and all information provided is in English. In the past there have been difficulties with runners who did not speak English and who did not understand important instructions. Any runner who does not speak sufficient English should seriously consider bringing a companion who is more fluent. We can cope with French and German.

Selection

Selection will take place on the 1 May 2009 and the 75 successful applicants will be notified immediately. A waitlist will also be drawn up and you will be notified of your position on the waitlist if you are not in the first selection. It is not possible to allocate places before this date.

After selection

You will be sent an information pack with full details of the trip, conditions of booking and a booking form which should be returned to BUFO VENTURES LTD by the 30 June 2009 with a deposit of £300 . All participants are required to sign a disclaimer certifying that they are participating at their own risk and must submit a medical questionnaire completed by the participant's doctor.

Insurance

Insurance which covers trekking and racing is compulsory. This must cover emergency helicopter evacuation, medical treatment in Kathmandu and repatriation. We are no longer able to arrange this for you but will send details of recommended companies and organisations.

Final payment

In September 2009 you will be sent a final invoice showing the balance to be paid including any items ordered or special arrangements required. Full payment is required 1 week later for those resident in the UK and 2 weeks later for all others.

Payment

No payment is required at the time of application (unless you are also ordering any Books & Films). Payment is only required when you accept the place you have been offered.

Personal cheques and BACS payments are accepted but payment for holiday arrangements cannot be made by credit card.

If you are not resident in Great Britain, you must pay in sterling. If you pay by bank transfer in sterling, please add £6 to cover bank charges.
