Application and selection
The 2009 race is now fully booked. If you would like information about future races, please submit your details on our home page. The next race is planned for November 2011. This web site will be updated in October 2010 and there will be an online application form. Applicants must be able to provide recent experience of mountain running and endurance events as evidence that you will be able to complete the marathon distance at high altitude on rough trails. Road race experience is not sufficient on its own.
Applications for the 2011 race will be accepted from 1 November 2010 to 30 April 2011. Places are offered on receipt of the application provided that suitable experience has been given.
Number of places
Because of the nature of the trail/course and trekking logistics, the number of places for
non-Nepalese runners is limited to 75. We hope there will be about 10 Nepalese runners and possibly a Gurkha team. We also
require 10/12 non-runners and allow one companion per runner. These non-runners must be fit enough
to complete the trek and prepared to help during the race as marshals or assisting medical staff.
English language
The race is conducted in ENGLISH and all information provided is in English. In the past
there have been difficulties with runners who did not speak English and who did not understand
important instructions. Any runner who does not speak sufficient English should seriously consider
bringing a companion who is more fluent. We can cope with French and German.
After selection
When we offer you a place you will be sent a booking form and conditions of booking. You must return the booking form to Bufo Ventures Ltd with a deposit of £300 within 4 weeks of the place offer. At the beginning of May 2011 you will be sent further paperwork and forms for completion. If you have to cancel your booking you will lose your £300 deposit. However, if we are able to fill your place, the cancellation fee will only be £100 and we shall refund £200.
Insurance
Insurance which covers trekking and racing is compulsory. This must cover emergency helicopter evacuation, medical treatment in Kathmandu and repatriation.
Final payment
You will have paid a deposit of £300 when you accept your place offer. In September 2011 you will be sent an e-mail with your final invoice showing the balance to be paid including any items ordered or special arrangements required. Full payment is required within 1 week for those resident in the UK and within 2 weeks for all others.
Payment
Personal cheques and BACS payments are accepted but payment for holiday arrangements cannot be made by credit card.
If you are not resident in Great Britain, you must pay in sterling. If you pay by bank transfer
in sterling, please add £6 to cover bank charges.
