Everest Marathon - The Highest Marathon in the World

Application and selection

The next race will be held in November 2015.    Applications will be accepted from 1 November 2014.   Places are offered on receipt of the application provided that suitable experience has been given.   We have received a number of applications from people who have only done road marathons.   We do require recent experience of off-road, trail, fell or mountain running.

Further information

If you have further questions about the race, please go to Frequently Asked Questions or the Forum. If you still haven't found your answer, please contact the Race Organiser, Richard Davies, on 01684 892162 (UK) or +44 1684 892162 (international).

Number of places

Because of the nature of the trail/course and trekking logistics, the number of places for non-Nepalese runners is limited to 75. We hope there will be about 20 Nepalese runners and possibly a Gurkha team. We also require 10/12 non-runners and allow one companion per runner. These non-runners must be fit enough to complete the trek and prepared to help during the race as marshals or assisting medical staff.

English language

The race is conducted in ENGLISH and all information provided is in English.  In the past there have been difficulties with runners who did not speak English and who did not understand important instructions. Any runner who does not speak sufficient English should seriously consider bringing a companion who is more fluent.

After selection

When we offer you a place you will be sent a booking form and conditions of booking. You must return the booking form to Bufo Ventures Ltd with a deposit of £300 within 4 weeks of the place offer. See below for payment methods. (Those paying from banks outside the UK should add £6 to cover UK bank charges.)  We shall then send you confirmation of booking and a password which allows you to enter the 'Members' section of the web site. This contains full information about the trip. At the beginning of May 2015 you will be sent (by e-mail) further paperwork and forms for completion. If you have to cancel your booking you will lose your £300 deposit.

Insurance

Insurance which covers trekking and racing is compulsory. This must cover emergency helicopter evacuation, medical treatment in Kathmandu and repatriation. Full details are required by September 2015 with your final payment.

Final payment

You will have paid a deposit of £300 when you accept your place offer.  In September 2015 you will be sent an e-mail with your final invoice showing the balance to be paid including any items ordered or special arrangements required. Full payment is required within 7 days.
