Pre-Race Timetable

Wed 30 Apr

Closing date for applications. Any entries received after this date will be placed on the waitlist

Selection date and places offered

Mon 30 Jun

Closing date for acceptance of place and payment of £300 deposit

Mid-Sep

Final invoice will be sent showing balance to be paid.

 

Full payment due by UK participants 1 week later.

 

Full payment due by non-UK participants 2 weeks later.

 

Race Timetable

We will book flights from London to Kathmandu. Provisional dates will be given when this web site is updated in October 2008 but the actual reservations cannot  be made until December.

Day 1

Depart London Heathrow in the evening.

Day 2

Change flight in the Middle East and arrive Kathmandu in the afternoon.

Day 3

Briefing n the morning. The group is divided into two or three trekking groups. Sightseeing excursion in the afternoon.

Day 4

Fun run in the early morning followed by sightseeing excursion. Prepare for trek in the afternoon.

Day 5

Morning flight to Lukla and walk to Phakding (2652m).

Day 6

Arrive Namche Bazaar (3446m), race headquarters. Two nights in lodges where you must pay your own expenses.

Day 7

Acclimatisation in Namche.

Day 8

Recce the Thamo loop and continue to Khumjung (3780m).

Day 9

Mong La (3962m), Phortse Tenga, Dole (4084m).

Day 10

Machermo (4465m).

Day 11

Acclimatisation at Machermo.

Day 12

Gokyo (4791m).

Day 13

If acclimatised climb Gokyo Ri (5483m) and descend to Dole.

Day 14

Phortse Tenga, Khumjung or Sarnassa.

Day 15

Rejoin race course. Tengboche monastery, Deboche (3757m).

Day 16

Dingboche (4343m).

Day 17

Acclimatisation in Dingboche; explore the Chhukhung valley.

Day 18

Lobuche (4930m).

Day 19

Lobuche. If acclimatised climb Kala Pattar (5623m).

Day 20

Final medical checks. Gorak Shep (5184m).

Day 21

EVEREST MARATHON; GORAK SHEP TO NAMCHE BAZAAR. 2 nights in lodges where you must pay your own expenses.

Day 22

Namche Bazaar: rest day. Kit arrives from Gorak Shep.

Day 23

Fly from Shyangboche via Lukla to Kathmandu. Two nights at Hotel Shanker: bed and breakfast only.

Day 24

Optional sightseeing excursion; prize-giving party and dinner in the evening.

Day 26

Arrangements in Nepal end after breakfast. Those flying to London either:
  a) depart Kathmandu early morning and arrive London early evening.
  b) depart Kathmandu early evening and arrive London early the next morning.

If you wish to spend longer in Nepal, either before or after our arrangements, Bufo Ventures can provide the necessary services. Flights between London and Kathmandu can be booked on different dates.
